Hi, I'm Teresa!

I am excited to welcome you on this healing journey with me! I strive to create a comfortable, safe, creative and playful space for children and families to explore their goals. As an Art Therapist I can provide a unique approach to understanding children’s emotions and assist in strengthening their foundation through talking and exploration using creative materials. Creating art in a therapeutic setting allows children to be witnessed, validated and seen.  Art therapy can provide children with ways to process their emotions, regulate their nervous system and build comfort with therapy.

My goal as an Art Therapist is to support children and their families by providing creative tools that can be used in everyday life.  Throughout the course of my career working with children and families, I have worked with children who exhibit a range of emotions, behaviour and developmental challenges. Through my experience, I have enhanced my observation and active listening abilities,  allowing me to adapt approaches accordingly to each unique client. As a mother of two wonderful young adults and a "Gigi" of  two,  I have walked the journey of parenting. One of my children was diagnosed with ADHD and Anxiety as a child, which helped me to learn alternative approaches and gain positive tools in supporting neurodivergent thinkers.

Approach to Therapy

I offer therapeutic modalities in expressive art therapy, client-centered therapy, mindfulness and solution-focused therapy. I believe that the combination of talk and Art Therapy provide a unique approach to understanding a client’s journey. Having the tools in my toolbox to assist each client on their unique journey is my priority. It is important that a child feels they are being heard as they are the expert of their life! My goal is to work collaboratively in developing coping skills, setting goals, regulating emotions and building a therapeutic connection.

What is Art Therapy?  It is the combination of talk therapy and artmaking to build coping skills, resilience, acceptance and self- compassion. It improves brain function, memory, problem solving and imagination. Art Therapy helps with anxiety, depression and overwhelming emotions.
